Canada Verses America in The Music War and Decline of the Music Industry

So many years ago America came out with a few great bands like Green Day, The Offspring, and Blink 182. These bands did a fantastic job earning awards like best rock group, best new rock group, best music video, best rock album and much more! Seeing how popular they were, Canada fired back with bands like Sum 41 and Simple plan. Both were great bands that played the same style of music as Blink 182, The Offspring and Green Day. So the contest began as America introduced My Chemical Romance, Jet and Linkin Park who were also very successful especially Linkin Park who won favorite alternative artist for 3 different years. Soon after quality of the contest started to degrade when America produced Miley Cyrus, the teen pop idol. This started the era of mainstream, low quality "pop" music. After Miley Cyrus, Canada brought out everything it had to come out with Justin Bieber, the biggest attack on American society since the 9/11, brainwashing millions of helpless young girls. America's next attempt failed greatly when we put out Rebecca Black... and I won't even go there... So the next and final attack to date was Canada bombing us with Carly Rae Jepson and her sad excuse for a song "Call Me Maybe." Only God can save our music now.

This endless battle between countries used to bring wonderful music to the world but now it just destroys the industry by creating music aimed at people that will like a certain group because of how they look or how they act. It isn't about the music anymore, it's about who's posing for the photo shoots, who gets the most girls, and who has the best hair. The world of music is more like the world of fashion and appearance. This needs to stop because with all of these new pop artists that don't work hard at all to get where they are there are less opportunities for the small bands and artists that play in bars and small joints. Those smaller bands have been forced out of business and therefore were without a job. This new look on music also causes already successful and good bands to change their style to meet the growing fan base for pop. By doing this we are getting less and less quality music from bands that were once great. Come on America and Canada, fight with better music and do it so everyone understands that music is not the art of being "cool", it is the art of sound.

Setting Proper Recording Levels

One of the most simple concepts in the world of digital audio is setting proper recording levels. At the same time, I believe it is one of the most overlooked, especially among beginners and even people that have been involved in digital recording for quite some time. The biggest problem which seems to be an ongoing trend, is that people seem to think, "louder is better." This is absolutely not true when recording in the digital domain and if you are pushing your levels too hot, your recordings are suffering.

I have to assume that if you're recording digitally, you're recording in 24 bit. Most every digital recording system that I can think of offers you the option to record in 24 bit. This is extremely important because it relates directly to your overall dynamic range, which in 24 bit, is approximately 145 dB. So, what this really means is that your noise levels will be significantly lower, giving you more headroom to record at reduced levels. When setting levels don't try to get your DAW meter peaking as loud as possible without clipping. Even if you don't actually clip your signal, you have just used up all of your headroom and you will never get it back. Even if you think that by turning the track down after the fact, it's not the same. The damage is already done. On the other hand, if you set your levels to peak between -18 dBFS to -12 dBFS, you will have plenty of headroom to work with and when the time comes to make things loud, your tracks will sound cleaner, more spacious and bigger.

So, grab a hold of the knob on your preamp and turn things down! Watch your meters closely and keep in mind that when setting your initial levels, your vocalist or whoever is doing the takes will most likely perform or play much louder when the actual recording takes place. Therefore, you may need to come down even further once the session is under way. It's difficult to get levels perfect from an artist that isn't warmed up yet so, keep this in mind when you're doing rehearsal takes and such. Most importantly, learn from your own experiences. I encourage you to try this for yourself and compare it closely to your other recordings and draw your own conclusions. I'm confident you will be amazed with what you find.

Lil Wayne - The Popular Singer of Popular Music

Though he was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Lil Wayne is better known with his acquired name. When asked why, the rap musician has said that he is not interested in keeping his father's name. Born on September 1982, he has grown up with his mother as his father has separated from the family when Lil was just 2 years old. He lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. When he was nine years old he joined Cash Money Records and he was their youngest member then. In 1997 he joined the group Hot Boys. "Guerilla Warfare" was the most successful album of the group for Wayne.

The debut album of Lil Wayne was released in 1999 and it gained platinum states. More than one million copies of "The Block is Hot" were sold. In the year 2000 he released his second album "Lights out" but it failed to make an impact receiving only gold status. Critics attributed the status to his immaturity and he followed it up with another album in 2002 called 500 Degreez. Though he followed the same format of the previous two albums with this also, his third album was not a success.

It was in 2004 that he released his next album and it was successful enough to sell 878,000 copies in the US. By this time his rapping style has improved. The album "Tha Carter" brought him recognition and the single "Go DJ" was recognized as it was selected to be one of the top 5 in the R&B Hip hop charts. In 2005 Lil Wayne released his "Tha Carter II" and that too was able to sell over 238,000 copies during the first week of its lease.

Lil Wayne is a highly recognized talent in the music scene at least in New Orleans. When Barack Obama visited the state on his election campaign he mentioned the name of this rap musician in a speech recognizing his talent. He did it in a speech advising children to stay in school and finish education rather than taking short cuts.

Lil Wayne was involved in a few cases of possession of drugs. After a performance in New York he was caught smoking marijuana. Later a pistol was also found in a bag left near him. Though the pistol was found licensed under his manager's name he was charged in courts. He was sentenced to one year in the jail but he was released after 8 months in prison. He also had to contest several law suits on various counts.

Lil Wayne was born to sing and started his musical career at the age of nine. In a short time he became one of the most sought after musicians. His specialty was rap music.

The label would gain more play from different radio markets and could sell more singles as well. Many time you would buy a CD single and it would contain the original song, the urban remix, a dance remix, and sometimes even the instrumental versions of all the mixes.

Today in 2012 as the music industry is changing at light speed the concept of the remix as a promotional tool is at an all time high. How I record and edit custom drum tracks for customers, tips and techniques for Pro drum tracking

Before the client arrives or I am because of kick-off on Skype I all devices will I make sure use is ready, this means first relentless drums.

Make sure that the kit on performance is set. I like both heads on same pitch matched and Toms I they optimize for about a third apart, and the key of the song when it is possible, but for me it more important for the project to relentless drums and sing of course.

Snare drum should be somewhat humid as I would for a gig and my kick drum is blunted typically down with a pillow.

Voting is completed, I listen for rattles, buzzes and sympathetic rings, as far as possible to eliminate.

Once satisfied with the kit that I am moving in the microphones, my typical building is I

Positioning:

This is important, that bit-all microphones should face as well and this is the same angle as far as possible, to minimize problems with the kit phase.

Heavy Metal Band Names and Titles

Naming a heavy metal band can be a tricky thing. While there does not seem to be a standard, and to say all band names fit a specific formula is unfair, there are several trends and currents that heavy metal bands seem to follow when naming their project. Below we'll discuss just a few of those and pontificate on why they came to be.

Evil/Satanic

Because of heavy metal's preoccupation with the darker side of life it is not uncommon to have bands naming them selves after "evil" or "satanic" themes. Using other names for the devil, or alternate spellings is also popular. In almost every instance of a name involving the evil or satanic the band is doing so tongue-in-cheek.

Death/Gore

Once again due to a preoccupation with the "dark" a lot of heavy metal band names involve death or gore. This is something you are most likely to see in the genres of death metal, gore, grind, and, in some cases, black metal. That said, you would be hard pressed to find a genre of heavy metal, even the flowery and lovable power metal, that did not have at least one band whose name came about from some morbid idea or imagery.

Why You Should Ditch Software Recording and Switch to Workstations - A Tascam 2488 Neo Review!

This is how a semi-professional musician did his market research and decided that going with a workstation to record music is the ONLY way to go! The Tascam 2488 Neo that I bought blew all my doubts and apprehensions out of the water - if YOU are a musician who would rather make music than worry about your technical recording skills - then read on! This article is for you!

Why drop software based recording?

As a musician wanting to get to the next level and pushing the envelope - I started where we all do - culling free and amateur recording software and bad quality recording. Let me be clear here - I definitely do not think of myself as a technical person!

My tussle with big name software solutions only led me to frustration as I tried to solve latency and driver issues. (I don't understand the concept of ASIO drivers, and thanks to workstations, I'll never need to). I had arrived at a point where I was literally ripping my hair out, because as a musician, I prize perfection, and nothing else.

When it comes to recording my guitar parts, I can't bear the thought that I have to manage recording quality alongside my music, which is a pretty huge task in and of itself. My box replicates the sound I hear from my guitar in all its glory.

As someone who places creativity over technical knowledge (and let's admit it, we're all sick of sound guys telling us to leave the sound to them!) I firmly believe that this work station was the best decision I took for my multi track recording solutions. I don't want to be a drone of the "recording community" that chats in thousands of threads about Preamps, ADAT, and SPDIF ad nauseum. I want my music to get out there, and I want it to sound as professional as possible. Period.

An important note here: I will still export my tracks to a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like the Sony Creative Acid, but for my recording needs, the buck stops here. But I was suitably impressed by the Mastering Tool feature in my workhorse. This does an excellent job of mastering my mixes with the push of a button without having to rely too much on my DAWs.

I especially like the sound and the sound quality. The DRY TRACKS are, in a word, amazing! Very clean - which of course is a pre-requisite for a multitrack recording workstation. At 24 bits, this is musician heaven. The built-in guitar amp modulation is something that benefited me personally.

The only things I found on my "cons" list would be that

- The sampling rate of my box is limited to 44.1kHz or 48kHz sampling.

- Mine took a lot getting used to - as most good things in life do. The manual is HUGE.

- I did go ahead and buy some equalizers, subs, speakers, mixers, pre amps, etc. after purchasing this. I would recommend this if you're looking for even more control over your sound.

The Tascam 2488 Neo is my weapon of choice, and definitely the way to go. I bought it from Amazon who were offering the best price, and highly recommend them to everyone - brownie points to them for shipping it to me for free.

Tascam 2488 Neo has all the I/O anyone could need, plus the ability to record 8 simultaneous inputs.
It blows other competitors out of the park. And - I struggle to put this delicately - THE MACHINE RECORDS WITHOUT ANY LATENCY! Big smiles everywhere, especially those frustrated with digital recording solutions and "ASIO Driver matching."

When you're all done, out jumps a CD from the tray with your new brilliant creative ideas on it. No limitations. No compromise.

Michael Jackson an Illustrious Character in Popular Music

Born on August 29, 1958, Michael Joseph Jackson was the 8th of the 10 children in his family. His father was a worker in a steel mill and they lived in Garry, Indiana. His father Joseph Walter Jackson also performed with a band called Falcons. During childhood he has been abused both verbally and physically by his father according to statements made by Michael Jackson later. By 1964 his three elder brothers Jackie, Toto and Jermaine have been performing in their own group.

The start of the musical career of Michael Jackson was when he along with another brother Marlon joined the band in 1964. Though he was given the opportunity as a backup musician, he soon started sharing the lead singer role along with his brother Jermaine. The name of the group also changed to Jackson 5. In 1968 the magazine "Rolling Stones" described him as a young prodigy with vast talents. After a short while, young Jackson became the lead singer of the group.

In 1978 Michael Jackson appeared in the musical "The Wiz" and the film failed as a box office but he was able to meet Quincy Jones who gave consent to produce a solo album for Jackson while shooting. It was named "Off the Wall". In the mean time, Jackson broke his nose and plastic surgery was performed to correct it. In 1979 "Off the Wall" was released. It was such a success that it was the first solo album to have had 4 singles in the US top 10.

In the year 1980 Jackson won many awards and became the one who was getting the highest royalty rate in the US music industry. It was 37% of the profit of an album. In 1982 he recorded "Someone in the Dark" and it earned him the award for the best recording for children in 1984. He also won five more awards that year. In 1982 he made "Thriller" Which created the record for highest sales worldwide as well as in the US. 110 million copies of it have been sold so far.

Michael Jackson was given an invitation to the White House on May 14, 1984 and he received an award from President Ronald Reagan for his charity work. In 1993 he was accused in a child sexual abuse case. In the same year he married Elvis Priestley's daughter. His second marriage took place in 1996 and his bride was Deborah Jeanne Rowe. On June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson was found dead on his bed in a rented mansion in Los Angelis.

Michael Jackson was such a talented singer that he played in his brothers' band when he was six years old. Later he became America's most famous singer. However, the latter part of his life had a lot of turbulence. Michael Jackson's kids.
